Dream LOUD is a program designed for children ages 6-18 who need to receive positive adult and peer support through the difficulties of their parent incarcerated. Dream Loud currently serves the children visiting a parent at the Lansing Facility. We meet on Saturday mornings during the regular scheduled visits. We are able to bring children to our on-site clubhouse to participate in creating art projects, team building activities, and developing positive life skills.
We believe Dream Loud inspires the desire of our youth to dream and find positive, constructive ways to express emotions and desires. We encourage them to explore change by taking chances to improve their lives.
Currently, Dream Loud meets every other weekend with children visiting the Lansing Correctional Facility. Each week has a special theme that relates to the issues that the children face. Fathers within the facility are informed of this theme and it helps them enhance their visitation time by asking their children about things happening in their lives. Several parents have commented that, upon release, reintegration of their families has been greatly improved because relationships have been strengthened while the father was away.
